Potters Waste Management has won contracts with two county councils to export waste overseas. The waste management arm of the Potter Group has struck new deals to process and export residual waste to Sweden, ensuring an environmentally improved alternative to landfill for the disposal of black bag waste.

Waste from Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, that cannot be recycled, is processed into Refuse Derived Fuel and exported to Sweden, where it is used in high efficiency power stations to produce both electricity and heat for local households.

The 15-year contracts were made under an innovative framework deal that Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion Councils created with advice from private sector partners, Eunomia and confirm the Potter Group’s position as the biggest privately owned waste management organisation in Wales

Under the framework, any other council can buy waste disposal services from one of seven suppliers, including two UK based and five export solutions. The framework contract is available to all other councils in Wales.

The Potter Group is now Wales’ leading recycling and waste management company offering integrated solutions in both the local authority and commercial sectors.
